Dr. Shafiq Rab is an internationally respected health IT executive and physician leader known for spearheading digital health transformation projects in major healthcare systems across the United States. With medical training and a Master of Public Health, Dr. Rab has combined clinical knowledge with technological expertise to improve healthcare delivery through interoperability, patient engagement, and system-wide digital integration.

He currently serves as the Chief Digital Officer (CDO) and CIO at Tufts Medicine in Massachusetts, where he leads efforts to implement next-generation digital platforms that unify patient data across hospitals, clinics, and home care. Under his leadership, Tufts Medicine has invested in cloud-based health data systems, telehealth platforms, and patient-centered apps to improve accessibility and equity in healthcare.

Previously, Dr. Rab held leadership roles at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, where he developed cutting-edge data-sharing platforms, and at Hackensack Meridian Health in New Jersey, where he was instrumental in deploying interoperable health data solutions. He is well known for his advocacy of FHIR (Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources) standards, pushing for greater transparency and accessibility of health records for both patients and providers.
