Early Life and Education

Michael T. Osterholm was born in Waukon, Iowa, United States, in 1953. Growing up in a rural community, he developed an early interest in health and disease prevention. He studied Biology and Political Science at the University of Iowa, where he received his Bachelor’s degree. Osterholm then pursued graduate studies in Environmental Health and Epidemiology, earning both his Master of Public Health (MPH) and PhD from the University of Minnesota.
