• Dr. Kwame Mensah is a Ghanaian financial technology strategist and blockchain researcher who has helped redefine the role of decentralized systems in empowering underserved populations. With over 15 years of experience at the crossroads of finance, digital technology, and social impact, Dr. Mensah is widely recognized for building inclusive digital finance ecosystems across Africa and South Asia.

He earned his Ph.D. in Financial Engineering from the University of Cape Town and is a certified blockchain architect. His early career included pioneering work at the Central Bank of Ghana, where he helped design national frameworks for mobile money regulation and cross-border digital payments.

From 2018 to 2023, Dr. Mensah served as Lead Blockchain Strategist at the World Bank’s Africa Digital Economy initiative. There, he led multi-country projects focused on digitizing remittances, improving micro-lending platforms, and creating blockchain-backed land registries to reduce corruption and enhance property rights for rural communities.

In 2024, he co-founded BlockBridge Labs, a Nairobi-based innovation hub that accelerates fintech startups focused on ethical decentralized finance (DeFi), crypto-remittances, and green tokenization. The lab collaborates with central banks, UN agencies, and local universities to foster regulatory sandboxes and open innovation.

Dr. Mensah has been a keynote speaker at the African Union Digital Forum, the World Fintech Festival, and Davos, advocating for decolonized digital infrastructure and digital sovereignty for emerging markets. His belief is that blockchain should serve the bottom billion—not just the crypto-elite.

He is also the founder of Bit4Good Foundation, a nonprofit that deploys blockchain tools for humanitarian aid tracking and refugee identification systems. Based in Accra and Nairobi, he continues to lead cross-sector dialogue around ethical AI and decentralized governance.
