Background and Early Life

Ban Ki-moon (born June 13, 1944, in Eumseong County, South Korea) is a South Korean diplomat and the eighth Secretary-General of the United Nations (2007–2016). Throughout his career, Ban has been a strong advocate for sustainable development, climate change action, and infrastructure resilience.
