• Mr. Javier Torres is a renowned clean energy innovator and entrepreneur with a strong engineering background and a lifelong mission to expand access to renewable power across underserved regions. Born in Colombia and educated in Spain and Germany, he holds a Master’s in Electrical Engineering from the Technical University of Munich.

In 2012, Mr. Torres co-founded SolarGridTech, a clean energy startup that designs and deploys modular solar microgrid systems in remote and off-grid communities. Under his leadership, the company has implemented more than 400 projects in Latin America, Sub-Saharan Africa, and Southeast Asia, providing sustainable electricity to over 1.2 million people.

Mr. Torres is deeply committed to climate resilience and decarbonization. Through strategic partnerships with governments and NGOs, he has positioned SolarGridTech as a leading developer of low-cost solar storage systems designed for extreme environments. The company’s flagship technology — a patented hybrid battery-inverter solution — has won international awards for innovation and sustainability.

Prior to launching SolarGridTech, Mr. Torres worked with Siemens Energy as a systems integration engineer on large-scale solar farms in Europe. He has also advised the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) on energy access strategy and served as a guest lecturer on sustainable engineering at the University of Barcelona.

As a bilingual global leader, Javier frequently speaks at international sustainability summits such as COP and the Global Clean Energy Forum. His work has been featured in Forbes, The Economist, and the World Bank’s “Energy for All” report.

He continues to lead SolarGridTech’s expansion into the Middle East and North Africa, with a focus on building energy independence in refugee and post-conflict zones.
