Mr. Javier Ortega

Mr. Javier Ortega is a sustainability executive and renewable energy advocate with over 18 years of experience driving environmental innovation in the corporate and governmental sectors. With a passion for addressing climate change through actionable solutions, Javier has played a pivotal role in transitioning multinational corporations and emerging economies toward net-zero strategies.

He began his career as a project engineer in Argentina, leading solar infrastructure projects for rural communities. His technical and leadership capabilities led to a consulting position at the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), where he advised governments in Latin America on solar and wind implementation strategies.

From 2014 to 2022, Javier served as the Director of Global Sustainability at Enervate Group, a Fortune 500 clean energy firm headquartered in San Francisco. There, he oversaw corporate environmental, social, and governance (ESG) integration across five continents and launched several decarbonization frameworks that have since been adopted by over 30 major corporations. Under his guidance, Enervate’s renewable portfolio doubled, helping to prevent over 5 million tons of CO₂ emissions annually.

He is currently the Founder and CEO of Verde Nexus, a sustainability strategy firm that supports governments and businesses in achieving carbon neutrality through smart grid solutions, clean financing models, and climate innovation labs. Javier’s work has been recognized by the UN Global Compact and the World Economic Forum for his bold, scalable approaches to climate action.

Fluent in English and Spanish, Javier holds a Master’s in Environmental Engineering from TU Delft and an MBA in Sustainable Business from Stanford Graduate School of Business. He frequently contributes to international climate summits and advises startups in green tech.
