Dr. Christoph U. Lehmann, M.D., is an internationally recognized leader in clinical informatics, pediatrics, and health data systems. Trained as a pediatrician and informatician, Dr. Lehmann has dedicated his career to applying health information technology (HIT) to improve healthcare delivery, patient safety, and child health outcomes.

He currently serves as a Professor of Pediatrics and Biomedical Informatics at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth), where he also directs initiatives in clinical informatics research and education. In addition, Dr. Lehmann is the Director of the Clinical Informatics Center at Dell Medical School, University of Texas at Austin.

One of his key contributions has been in pediatric informatics, a field he helped shape from its inception. He was the founding president of the American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA) Pediatric Informatics Working Group and played a central role in advancing EHR systems to better meet the needs of pediatric patients. His research and policy advocacy have focused on improving medication safety, data standards for children, and integration of health IT into clinical workflows.

Dr. Lehmann has also been influential in shaping the field of clinical informatics certification and workforce development. He was instrumental in the creation of the subspecialty of Clinical Informatics within the American Board of Preventive Medicine, helping establish standards for training and certification for physicians in informatics.

In addition to his academic and leadership roles, Dr. Lehmann served as the Editor-in-Chief of the journal Applied Clinical Informatics and has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications on pediatric EHR design, health IT policy, and patient safety. He is a widely sought-after speaker at international conferences on medical informatics and digital health innovation.
